Mortgage (lease and release) by (1) Sir Rowland Gwynne of Llanelwedd, co. Rad., kt, to (3) Nicholas Jeffreys of the Inner Temple, London, esq., and William Eeles of St Mary Ax, London, gent., in trust to the use of (2) John Jeffreys of St Mary Ax, London, esq., of Itton manor house, a field called Long Orchard in p. Itton, lands named in a mortgage between 1 and 2 dated 26 May 1681, Pen-coed Castle, the manors of Pen-coed, St Brides, Llandegang, Itton, Wilcrick and Undy, m's, mills and lands of 1 in Caerleon and Bishopston, all co. Mon., lands named in a demise between 1 and Thomas Hudson, uncle of 2, dated 16 Aug. 1686, a tmt called The Hall in Llanelwedd in Llanelwedd, co. Rad., two water corn grist mills, m's called Kelley Cadogan in Llanfaredd and Llanelwedd, Penny Craige in Llanelwedd, Brin Rosser in Llanfaredd, Brin Gwanaste in Diserth, Glan Arrowe in Colfa, Y Diggith and water corn grist mills called Melin y Diggith and Y Twy Guyime in Aberedw, two closes of lands called Kae yn Combe Iago in p. Llanbadarn-y-garreg, and two closes of lands in Llansanffraid-yn-Elfael, all co. Rad., and m's in p's Builth, Llanfihangel, Llysdinam, Llanafan, Llandeilo and Llanilid, all co. Brec., with covenant by 1 to levy a fine. Consideration: £19,423-3-11, and a further sum of £100. Recites a demise for £900 for 1,000 years, dated 26 May 1681, between 1 and John Jeffreys (JJ), late of St Mary Ax, esq., dec., uncle of 2, of Itton manor house and other property. Witnesses of 1's signature include J. Wick, HM envoy, and Samuel Free, an English merchant, both at Hamburg, Germany.
