Biographical history
The Edwards family of Nanhoron were descended from Annes, one of the three daughters and co-heirs of Gruffydd ap Madog of Nanhoron Ucha. Annes married Rhys ap Gruffydd, though the surname Edwards was not adopted by the family until the eighteenth century. The family acquired the Bodwrdda estate, Aberdaron, by purchase in 1748. The Nanhoron estate remained in the hands of the Edwards family after the until after the death of Claude Henry Lloyd Edwrads sometime between 1934 and 1945. Following his death the estate was inherited by his sister, Mary Georgiana Lloyd Gough who married Alan Percy George Gough of the nearby Gelliwig estate in 1895.
