Copies of typescript translations from Latin to English, by Dr Peter Franklin, Lecturer in Palaeography at Lancaster University, of NLW Puleston Deeds and Documents 1022 and 1256, comprising papers relating to the case of John Puleston against Thomas Prichard at the Shropshire Assizes, 1638/9, and at the Court of Exchequer, 1641.

A collection which includes Welsh, Latin and English vocabularies, miscellaneous notes and extracts, a diary of 1811, Latin and other school exercises and a fairly substantial amount of correspondence. Also forming part of this collection are manuscripts and documents connected with the family of Edwards of Chirk.

Correspondence, papers and reports, 1968-1979, concerning publishing in the Welsh language, including correspondence between the Publishers' Section of the Union of Welsh Publishers and Booksellers, Secretaries of State for Wales and the Welsh Office, the Welsh Books Council, and the Welsh Arts Council regarding grants for publishing Welsh books for adults and schools (items 6, 11, 12, 13); and correspondence, 1968, respecting a memorandum on the Gittins Report on Primary Education in Wales submitted by the WJEC to the Secretary of State for Education and Science, which contained a recommendation that a new publishing unit be set up to print and publish children's books in Welsh (item 1).

The vulgate text of the psalter written in Paris, [c. 1230x1250], by one excellent hand and corrected by two others, one of whom wrote the cancels ff. 145 and 152-3, the other, who corrected one quire only, wrote the cancel f. 134. There are seven 8-line historiated initials, for psalms 26, 51, 52, 68, 80, 101 and 109; leaves now wanting probably bore those for psalms 1, 38 and 97 which would have completed a common sequence of illustrated psalms (cf. R. Branner, Manuscript painting in Paris in the reign of Saint Louis (Berkeley, Los Angeles and London, 1977), p. 20). The initials, in colour on burnished gold ground, and other lavish decoration of the book are of high quality. The figures all appear to be the work of one hand, very close in style to Branner's 'Dominican Group', notably his 'third master' (op. cit., pp. 59-60).

The psalter accompanied by a commentary based on that of Gilbert de la Porrée (see C. F. R. de Hamel, 'Glossed Books of the Bible and the Origins of the Paris Booktrade' (Woodbridge, 1984), p. 20). Gathered in eights, single leaves wanting after ff. 46, 88 and 89 (cut out for their initials) and a quire at the end. Good multi-coloured initials in red, blue and green, large ones for psalms 26, 38, 68, 80 and 109 (those for psalms 1, 51, 52, 101 and 109 cut out).
