Biographical history
Ganwyd y Capten David (Dafydd) Jones yn Llanddewi-Brefi, ger Tregaron ym 1893. Ar ôl gadael Ysgol Sir Tregaron, dysgodd mewn ysgolion yn Llanddewi-Brefi a Phontrhydfendigaid, cyn symud ymlaen i Brifysgol Aberystwyth. Ymunodd â'r fyddin ym 1916 a comisiynwyd i'r 10th Battalion (1st Rhondda) Welsh Regiment, ac yna ymladdodd yn ymosodiad Coed Mametz. Bu farw ar 12 Gorffennaf 1916, yn 23 oed.
Captain David (Dafydd) Jones was born in Llanddewi-Brefi, near Tregaron in 1893. After leaving Ysgol Sir Tregaron, he taught in schools in Llanddewi-Brefi and Pontrhydfendigaid, before moving on to Aberystwyth University. He joined the army in 1916 and was commissioned into the 10th Battalion (1st Rhondda) Welsh Regiment, and then fought in the Coed Mametz attack. He died on 12 July 1916, aged 23.
