The manuscript was given to W. W. E. Wynne by the Rev. Robert Owen of Waun Fach and Rhyd y Bill. W. W. E Wynne supposed that the manuscript came into the possession of the Rev. Owen through the marriage of one of his ancestors, Lewis Owen of Erwgoed, to Jane, a daughter of Gruffudd Vaughan.
