Papers, 1939-[c. 2000], largely connected with Philip Weekes' work in the coal industry, consisting of letters and correspondence, 1951-[c. 2000]; papers concerning the Broadcasting Council for Wales, 1976-1982; a number of notes for speeches and lectures, 1953-1997; copies of various addresses and articles, 1954-1992; an exercise book and two notebooks, 1939-1966; miscellaneous papers, 1911-1964, deriving from Philip Weekes's career; papers concerning the coal industry, 1920-1962; printed materials, 1927-1972; papers, 1939-1945, concerning Philip Weekes's connection with the Tredegar Iron and Coal Company; and notebooks which he kept while a student at University College, Cardiff, 1939-1945.

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling

Action: The majority of the papers in the series have been retained apart from a small number of duplicate copies of a BBC memorandum, photocopies of some lecture notes and a duplicate of the article 'Meeting the Challenge through Longwall Retreating', all of which have been destroyed. Authority for the destruction of these items is given in Appraisal Form MRR/2005-06/3ii..
