Thank you very much for your letter informing me that you have appointed Mr Rumbock Sahib, who is a very able administrator, to take charge of the Koshal Kothi at Azimabad and that he would be leaving in four days and reach here shortly afterwards. As soon as Mr Middleton leaves here Mr Ronbock will act as his substitute. You have also expressed your concern at the inefficient way the revenue is being collected at present and that we should try our best to make it the system that we collect all instalments at a proper time. The appointment of Mr Ranbock is a welcome step and no one has any doubt in his abilities. We will offer him whatever help and advice is needed and which Mr [Samuel] Middleton would approve
As far as the collection of revenue is concerned I can assure you that we work day and night to achieve the best results. The only exception is the province of Shikare, which is lying waste and is uninhabited. We are trying our best to chase the defaulters and hope to receive the defaulted amounts in the near future
