Halsingod,

A manuscript of about the second quarter of the eighteenth century containing sixty-three (numbered 1-62, 34 being used twice) 'halsingod', or songs on religious themes, by John Richard, Eliz. Griffith, David Davies, B.D., Siencin Sir John, David John, Da. John David(d), David Lewis, Richard John, Albon [sic] Thomas, Samuell Williams ('Vicer Llandyfriog'), Evan Griffith, George Thomas, Griffith Sion, Owen Evans, John Davies, John Evans, David Evan, and Samuel Evans, and anonymous compositions. Five of the compositions are printed insertions, namely Gwyrthiau ein Harglwydd Jesu Ghrist wedi ei troi ar Gân ... and Pedwar o Ganueu Ar amrvw Desdunion ... (Llundein, 1718). At the beginning of the volume is an index of first lines ('Table y Llyfyr hwn fel y canlyn').

Poetry,

A manuscript volume (46 pp.) containing 'cerddi', etc., some religious, (?)in the autograph of Evan Thomas, 1756-7. The poets represented are Richart Parry, Dafydd Johns, Huwga or Hugha [sic] Morus, Morris Roberts o'r Balla [sic]', Matthew Owen, Robert Llwyd, Morgan Lloyd, Ellis Robertts, Evan Thomas (?Evan Thomas penygaur) and Owen Criffudd [sic]. There are also some 'englynion', etc. in the margins: one such entry (p. 34) is described as being 'o Lyfr Robt Thomas o Landrillo. Evan Thos. ai scrifennodd 1766'. The orthography is rather uncertain throughout. On the cover is written '10. Cerddi. &c.' (cf. NLW MS 2281B).
