History

The Swansea Latin American Society / Cymdeithas Lladin America Abertawe was established in 1986 to support Central American Campaigns. The aims of the Society, as stated, was: 'to publicise the situation in Latin America and build up active support in the city of Swansea and surrounding districts for the people's struggle for peace and freedom; to channel financial support from the people of Swansea to national solidarity and human rights campaigns, and to their endorsed projects within Latin America; to promote the establishment of direct contact between the local labour movement, churches etc., and Latin American projects and people'.

It ceased to exist in 1991.
