Administrative history

The Trecynon Seminary, a secondary school otherwise known as 'Ysgol Jones', was apparently established by the Rev. John Jones in 1833 and located in a room above the stable next to the Hen Dŷ Cwrdd, Aberdare. The Rev. Rees Jenkin Jones was head of the school between 1864 and 1872 and again, after a period of ill-health, between 1879 and its closure in 1893.
