A volume containing minutes of the meetings of aldermen of the borough of Swansea recommending four fit persons in election to serve the office of portreeve, and minutes of the election by a majority of the burgesses of portreeve, common attornies, and sergeants at mace. Up to 1788 the minutes were largely written and all certified by Gabriel Powell, recorder. Thereafter most of the minutes are certified by Thomas Morgan as steward. At the other end of the book are the following forms of Oath:- Oath of Allegiance, Oath of Supremacy, the Portreeve's Oath, The Burgesses' Oath, The Alderman's Oath, The Oath of a Constable, Affirmation of a Quaker, The Burgesses' Oath, The Alderman's Oath, and Abjuration Oath; and the form of proclamation of a fair, at the Market House, and on the Postern.
