The Welsh Association of Community and Town Councils (Cymdeithas Cynghorau Bro a Thref Cymru), later the Wales Association of Community and Town Councils, seeks to assist members of community councils and town councils across Wales. It was founded in 1976. It is based in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, and is organized into area committees. It publishes information and consultation material relating to local council matters in Wales, including a quarterly magazine, 'Bro'.

Immediate source of acquisition or transfer

Deposited by the Welsh Association of Community and Town Councils per Mr Gwynn Bowyer, Carmarthen, Dyfed, the Association's International Secretary, in July 1984 and December 1988; donated by Mr E. G. Millward, Aberystwyth, Dyfed, the Association's Treasurer, in October 1993 and May 2004; deposited by Mrs Mary Thomas, the Association's General Secretary, in April 1996; deposited by Mr Gwynn Bowyer, Y Derwen Fach, 98 Heol y Prior, Carmarthen, in December 1999; and donated by Mr Gwynn Bowyer, December 2011.

Records of the Welsh Association of Community and Town Councils, 1976-1999, comprising correspondence, 1976-1999, minutes of national and local committees, 1976-1992, administrative and financial records, 1963-1986, papers relating to annual conferences, 1977-1993, material relating to 'Bro', 1981-1986, and papers and publications relating to issues concerning local government, 1948-1995.
