Papers of, or relating to, Richard Bennett and his father Edward Bennett, 1860-[?late 20 cent.].
They comprise (i) farming accounts, memoranda and records of workers's wages at Hendre farm, Pennant, 1860-1876, compiled by Edward Bennett, together with a list of tithes owed by farms in Llanbrynmair; a single page of accounts, 1867-1868, is apparently in the hand of the young Richard Bennett (ff. 1-29); (ii) six wills, 1864-1895, in the hand of Edward Bennett (all but one also witnessed by him), being those of Morgan Jones of Pennant Uchaf, Llanbrynmair, 9 March 1864, William Edwards of Penycapel, Dylife, 26 March 1874, Jane Jarman of Gwernyffridd, Llanbrynmair, 12 May 1875 and 1 March 1878, Maurice Jones of Tanyrwtra, Trefeglwys, 20 October 1891, and Thomas Owens of Merthyr Vale, Glamorgan [formerly of Llanbrynmair], 5 September 1895 (ff. 30-37); (iii) miscellaneous papers of Richard Bennett comprising a draft letter from him (in Welsh), [?1912], a cartoon entitled 'Messrs Hughes & Bennett At Work', depicting Bennett and [his brother-in-law R. W. Hughes], [?1917], a poem in his hand beginning 'Can diolch gyfaill hoff, am farddol wifreb…', [n.d.], a copy of his pamphlet 'A Charge to the Elders', 1928, and his obituary from [The County Times], [August 1937] (ff. 38-46); and (iv) a typescript copy, [?late 20 cent.], of Richard Bennett's address, 'Hanes dechreuad a chynnydd yr Ysgol Sabbothol yn y Pennant, Llanbrynmair' (ff. 47-58).
