Note
The Women's National Commission (WNC) was an advisory non-departmental public body set up in 1969 to advise the British government on women's views and to act as an umbrella body for British-based women's groups in their dealings with government. Until the 1990s women's groups were able to apply for formal membership of the WNC. As the result of a review of non-departmental public bodies by the British Government in October 2010, the WNC ceased to function on 31 December 2010.
