Administrative history
The Workers' Educational Association was founded in 1903 as an adult education charity, and its North Wales Branch (also sometimes known as a District) was established in 1925, notably through the efforts of Robert Silyn Roberts, whose wife, Mary, also worked for the Association for many years. The North Wales Branch merged with Coleg Harlech in 2001, and since 2015 (after several further mergers) they have been part of Adult Learning Wales / Addysg Oedolion Cymru.
Archival history
The archive remained in the possession of the WEA and its successor organisations until its transfer to NLW.
Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
Donated by Kathryn Robson, Chief Executive, Adult Learning Wales, in June 2022; an additional folder was donated by Angharad Tomos, Caernarfon, in September 2022.
