Scope and content
Written at 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, S.W. Is writing between receiving two deputations - one from the Independent Labour Party on the question of reconstruction, and one from the Unionist Old Guard in the south and west of Ireland. Encloses newspapers. An article in the previous day's Times - 'The old boy has already passed into the history of the world, for his part of it is a world story and will interest readers in Korea just as much as readers in Carmarthen. The romance of his share in life will always fascinate and inspire; in fact the interest in what he did will long survive any interest there may be in what I have or ever can achieve'. Suggests that William George might like to take a holiday at Walton Heath.
