I have been sending you reports of the situation here. The other day when Thakurani [wife of the Rajah] went out she was attacked by some people who abused her and destroyed her belonging. I took my mother with me and escaped until I reached Jahan Nagar. The owner of this place is trying to help me. I am sending my advocate Ram Singh to give you further details of this matter.

The contents of an earlier letter, received November 2 but now missing, were summarised as follows: I wrote to you earlier about my difficulties. You must have received it by now. Today is 15 of Katak and the Chothi Thakurani [wife of the late Maharajah], left the Haveli Babar and is now encamped near the banks of the Ganges. I am also staying nearby. From here we are planning to go to Murshidabad.
