Biographical history
Lord Roberts of Conwy was MP for Conwy from 1970 to 1997. He served as parliamentary private secretary to the Welsh secretary from 1970 to 1974 and as opposition frontbench spokesman for Wales 1974 and 1979. He served in the Welsh Office as Under-Secretary of State and Minister of State between 1979 and 1995. He was elevated to the peerage as Lord Roberts of Conwy in 1997. Prior to his election he enjoyed a career in broadcasting with both TWW and HTV.
