Material relating to a sequence of poems titled 'Aberfan Voices', written by Tony Curtis and Grahame Davies to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster on 21 October 1966, when the catastrophic collapse of a colliery spoil tip situated above the South Wales village destroyed Pantglas Junior School and adjacent houses, killing 116 children and 28 adults, each poem accompanied at the readings by a displayed photograph taken by photojournalist and screenwriter I. Poet Ceri Wyn Jones was born in Welwyn Garden City and moved to west Wales as a child. He studied at Aberystwyth University and was for ten years Head of English at Llandysul Comprehensive School before joining Gomer Press in 2002. He won the Chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales Bala in 1997, the Crown, again in Bala, in 2009 and the Chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales Carmarthenshire in 2014.
