Among the numerous names of owners and / or readers recorded in the volume are Griffith Jones, John Jones, and Simon Jones, Blaen Cwm Cynllwyd (1761-81), Hary Jones ('Shoemaker at Llanywchyllun'), Maurice Hughes, Llanuwchllyn, Jane Roderick, Bala, and David Davies, Llanymowddwy. The volume subsequently passed into the library of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd').

The volume has an obvious association with the Llanuwchllyn area of Merioneth. The greater part of it was written apparently by Richard Hughes, Pentre, circa 1761.
