Biographical history
Charles Edward Breese qualified as a solicitor in 1889. He was a member of Caernarvonshire county council and, from 1918 to 1922, was Liberal member of parliament for the county. He served as army major during the Great War. Breese was also an enthusiastic antiquarian, being appointed work committee chairman of the Cambrian Archaeological Association and, in 1930, one of its vice-presidents. He died in 1932.

Papers of Charles Edward Breese, mainly dealing with antiquarian matters and including material, [1910x1920], relating to crown lands in Wales; correspondence, much of which is addressed to Breese, 1872-1932; an interleaved copy of The Kalendars of Gwynedd (London, 1873), compiled by Breese, and additions, [1909], to the Kalendars; and miscellaneous notes, press cuttings, etc. Also included are papers of Edward Breese, father of Charles E. Breese.
