Papers deriving from a case brought before the High Court of Chancery in 1683 by Edward Pryse and Dame Dorothy Pryse, executors of Sir Thomas Pryse, plaintiffs, against Sir Hugh Middleton, Sir Carbery Pryse, infant (per John Herbert his guardian) and William Wogan, defendants, concerning the refusal of Sir Hugh Middleton to pay a sum due upon a recognizance for the payment of £2100 acknowledged in 1639 by Sir William Middleton to Sir Richard Pryse (d. 1651), which recognizance descended to Sir Richard Pryse the younger and thence to Sir Thomas Pryse, and the refusal of William Wogan to honour a former agreement by Sir Hugh Middelton for payment to Sir Thomas Pryse, claiming that £2000 was due to Sir Carbery Pryse as nephew and heir of Sir Thoms Pryse. The file contains the bill of complaint, a copy bill and breviat, 1683, together with the renunciation by Dame Elizabeth Pryse of the administration of the goods of her late husband, Sir Richard Pryse, 1675, breviat of a bill by Edward and Dame Dorothy Pryse against John Herbert and Dame Elizabeth Pryse, his now wife, defendants, 1682, and other papers relevamt to the case, 1661-1682.
