A volume, 1809-1810, written by Joseph Meredith of the town of Carmarthen containing mainly arithmetical exercises, verses, and other memoranda including an account of the collection of money made among the workers at the Tinworks, Carmarthen, on behalf of the widow of a deceased forgeman, together with a copy of her petition, 1809 (ff. 79v-80v); inserted in the volume are two printed accounts, State of the Sunday Schools, near the Parade, Carmarthen ..., 1809 and 1810, with lists of the subscribers (ff. 77-8v). Thomas D'd ('o Sir Fon'), Mathew Owen, Thomas Robert ('o Lyn Ceiriog'), Richard Foulkes? and John Edwards, and anonymous poems; a 'cywydd' and 'englynion' by Rich[ard] Abram, Moris ap Evan ap David, Hugh Morrys, Edward Morris ('or Perthi Llwidion'), Richard [Davies] ('Esgob dewi') and Ragiar [sic] Kyffin; English verses by John Davies and John Hughes, and anonymous poems; an account, 1736, of wages paid the workmen for raising a fence upon [the river] Ceiriog 'under pentre gwyn a Tenem[en]t of the Hond. The manuscript is written in several hands, among them that of Richard Foulks.

An imperfect late seventeenth and early eighteenth century commonplace book of Howell Tanat (Tanatt, Tannat, Tannatt), Trewylan Isa, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Montgomeryshire. It contains poetry in free metres by Oliver Rogers, Humfrey Dauyd ap Ivan, William Philips, Rolant Voughan [sic], Howell Tanatt, Edward Rolant and Hugh Moris, and anonymous poems; English verses; accounts, 1685-1707 and undated (household, farm, payments to craftsmen, assessments of lewns in Llansantffraid and Llandysilio, etc.); short depositions touching a suit in the Court of Chancery relating to Robt. Kinaston [of Trewylan Ganol, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain] containing references to a plot and the keeping of a Jesuit priest; household and medical recipes; an incomplete dictionary of English phrases with their Latin equivalents; scriptural notes; a prayer; etc.

A composite volume largely in the hand of D. Silvan Evans containing transcripts of 'cywyddau' and 'awdlau' by Guto'r Glyn, Gutyn Owain, Sion Tudur, Dafydd ap Gwilim, John Rhydderch ('or Amwythig'), Tudur Aled, Lewys Môn, Owain Gwynedd and Wiliam Lleyn; 'Cedymdeithyas Amlyn ac Amic' (from the Red Book of Hergest), with notes and extracts on 'The Legend of the two faithful Brothers', 'englynion', etc. by [Walter Davies] ('Gwallter Mechain'), Hugh Evan ('Hywel o Eryri'), Rowland Hugh ('o'r Graienyn, Bala') and [John Jones] ('Tegid'), occasioned partly by bardic controversies at eisteddfodau held at Corwen and Bala in 1789 (extracted partly from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh); 'Ystoria Charles' (from the Red Book of Hergest); 'Cân am Orthrymderau'r Cymry' by Siencin Lygad Rhawlin (c. 1695) (transcribed 24 June, 1880, from Llanover MS[c]40 i.e. NLW MS 13127, pp. 399-401, and printed in Y Genhinen, 1883, pp 135-6); 'Marwnad y Tri Morwr o Aberporth -- ' by Evan Thomas Rhys; 'Hen ddywediadau neu ddiarhebion Cymreig'; an English translation by Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain') of 'Canu i Ddewi' by Gwynfardd Brycheiniog; etc. The spine is lettered 'Gwaith G. A volume containing items of verse, etc. (French, Latin, English, Spanish), not all by Thomas Powell, with a reference to the transit of Venus over the sun, 3 June 1769, as observed at Clapton. A later item lists recitations at North Walsham Grammar School, June 1853.

A composite volume from the collection of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') written in several hands of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and comprising ten main sections: (I) The first section (pp. 1-121 and some unnumbered items) contains poetry by Tomas Edwards Nant, S[ion] Owen, [David Owen] 'Dewi Wyn Eifion' [sic] and (mainly) Robert Williams ('Robert ap Gwilym Ddu'), some possibly in his autograph. Other items include a list of books ('Catalek of all ye books that I Have'), some accounts headed 'Cost Capel garn talwyd' and 'heb Daly am Capel garn', observations entitled 'Lwybr Dyn neu Ysdyriaethau ar bedair rhan oes Dyn' by Robert Williams, a letter, 1845, from Ellis Owen, Cefn y Meusydd, to Mr Robert Williams, Bard, Bettws fawr, Llanystumdwy, containing verses by Robert ab Gwilym Ddu entitled 'Pererindod o'r Aipht i Ganaan; and a list of poems by ['Robert ap Gwilym Ddu']. There are also some press cuttings and other additions by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). (Ii) A memoir of David Owen ('Dewi Wyn o Eifion') by and in the autograph of John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion'). (Iii) Miscellaneous items including 'Pymtheg Llwyth Gwynedd', poetry by Huw Llwyd Cynfal, Dafydd ap Sion and y Parchedig Mr Goronwy Owen o Fôn, and draft of a letter from 'Dyngarydd' [?David Owen ('Dewi Wyn o Eifion') ] to Mr Gomer' [? for Seren Gomer ], and 'A Memorandum Book' in the autograph of John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion') containing notes on natural history, etc. in English transcribed from various printed sources. (Iv) Notes in Welsh in the autograph of John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion') on theological subjects including extracts from 'Patrick's Places' i.e. the work of Patrick Hamilton, followed by short accounts of Phoenicia, Palestine, Assyria, Babylon, etc. (V) An incomplete poem entitled 'Carol Plygain am Bwrcas Crist tros eu [sic] Ddyweddi ...... (Vi) Two items in the autograph of John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion') entitled 'Cyfrifiad byr am amryw o enwau neu Sectau a ymddangosasant yn y byd' (? incomplete) and 'Ateb i rai holiadau, mewn Llythyr oddi wrth yr Ysgrifennydd at ei ewythr John Roberts', which last item includes observations by Michael Roberts on one of the questions. (Vii) This section consists of sixteen pages and one loose folio. The first fourteen pages are in the autograph of William Elias, c. 1731-44, and contain poetry by Evan ap Llywelyn Vychan (beginning wanting), D. Parry, William Elias, J. Rhydderch, Owen Griffiths and D[afydd] N[anmor]. The next two pages contain verses in English by Gr: Lloyd and the loose folio contains 'englynion', one by Moris ap Evan ap Dafydd ['Morus Dwyfech']. A note at the foot of p. 9 reads 'Oed ein harglwydd, pan dorwyd, y ffordd y mynydd Bwlch Derwin gynta, 1739, y rhan isa, ai gorphen: Mehefin 18: 1740: Wm Ellias, a Griffith Davidd o fodychen, overseers', and there is a recipe for making ink on p. 10. (Viii) 'Englynion' by Edward Charles and a number of Welsh hymns (author's name not given). (Ix) This section is in the autograph of John Roberts [?'Siôn Lleyn'], 1767, and contains poetry by Roger Thomley, Michel Prichiard, Sion Thomas Bod-edern, Gwen Arthur, William Elias, Owen Griffith, John Philip, John Roberts, Hugh Roberts, Thomas Jones, Rich[ar]d Parry niwbwrch, ? W. Ell... and John Rogar [sic]. (X) Veterinary and other recipes, mainly in Welsh.
