The Playwrights Group held a series of workshops exploring writing for the theatre and were arranged by the English Language Section of the Academi and held between November 1981 and May 1982. Their aim was to allow writers who had had little contact with theatre to gain some knowledge and practical experience. The organiser was Joan Mills and candidates were shortlisted and then interviewed for a limited number of places.
