Biographical history

William Hughes of Tyglyn acquired the Hendrefelen estate, Cardiganshire, from Charles Lloyd of Maesyfelin 1691. The estate remained in the possession of the Hughes family until the marriage of Elizabeth Hughes (d. 1856) with Captain Francis Thomas Gibb (d. 1881) of Bath. Their son, Francis Griffith Gibb, lived at Greenford Lodge, near Southall, Middlesex.
