Women in Politics

Drafts of speeches, with handwritten notes, on women in politics and specifically in the south Wales valley and as members of the National Assembly for Wales along with documents related to visits with the British Council to China, Brazil and Azerbaijan to highlight Wales' record on women’s representation in the National Assembly for Wales. This file also includes a conference organised by Christine Chapman on domestic abuse in the Cynon Valley and two published academic articles co-written with Julia Edwards on the policy of twinning Constituency Labour Parties to promote equal representation of men and women as candidates in winnable constituencies.

Women's Archive of Wales / 'Mapping Wales' project

Material relating to the collaboration between Welsh Women's Aid and the Women's Archive of Wales (Archif Menywod Cymru) and between Welsh Women's Aid and the 'Mapping Wales' project, the latter being a Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum collaborative research project based at the University of Wales Aberystwyth. The Women's Archive of Wales were to obtain a copious amount of records from Welsh Women's Aid, records which now comprise this present archive.

Women's Art in Wales

Material relating to the 1985 Welsh Arts Council touring exhibition Women's Art in Wales. Material comprises letters to Moira Vincentelli from participating artists, who include Mary Lloyd Jones, Claudia Williams and Thalia Campbell; artists' biographical details and details of works to be exhibited; Women's Art in Wales exhibition booklet, together with draft text; other printed exhibition booklets, artists' prints and postcards; rough notes; and other correspondence.

Papers relating to the Women's Jazz Archive oral history project, largely comprising transcribed interviews and correspondence, including material relating to the official opening of the archive on 26 June 1993; material relating to prominent archive contributors Blanche Finlay, Ottilie Patterson and Elaine Delmar; and material relating to the Heritage Lottery Funded project Wales, Slavery and Music - the Unknown Inheritance (for which see also Funding: 2004).
