He finds that 9 of the persons admitted in 1829 and the preceeding years were in point of fact the sons of freemen or had married the daughters of freemen, though at the court at which they were made, they did not claim to be admitted under those titles. Mr Williams, one of the aldermen, will prove that he was at the court in 1829 when 6 of the 9 were admitted as having any right to claim admission, but like all the rest who were admitted on that day were chosen by the mayor and aldermen composing the court.

A report states that several Catholics polled for Mr Hall at the election, without qualifying themselves for that privelege agreeably to the provisions of 10 Geo.4 C.7. If this rumour is correct, then they are not only liable to a penalty of £200 but their franchise is declared void to all intents and purposes. Surely more than 4 can be found in the united borough constituency [4 being Hall's majority over Bailey].

He sends copies of the list of voters in the Chepstow district. Many of Lord Somerset's interest had printed lists sent to them.
