West Shropshire Mineral Railway,

This line was authorized on 29 July 1862 to run the 133/4 miles from Westbury, on the newly-completed Shrewsbury to Welshpool line, to the Llanymynech limestone quarries, and later to Nantmawr. Later incarnations were the Shrewsbury and North Wales Railway (1864-6), the Potteries, Shrewsbury and North Wales Railway (1866-80) and the Shropshire Railways (1888-).

West Midland, Shrewsbury and Coast of Wales Railway,

In 1860 the West Midland, Shrewsbury and Coast of Wales Railway launched a scheme for a link from Shrewsbury to Porthmadog via Llangynog and Bala. The main attraction was Porthdinllaen, but when the West Midland scheme was still under discussion another scheme was submitted for the Porthmadog and Porthdinllaen Railway. Both were rejected by Parliament on Standing Orders in 1861.

West Felton, Whittington and miscellaneous Shropshire deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the parishes of West Felton, 1624-1767, Whittington, 1527-1725, and miscellaneous Shropshire parishes, 1571-1830. Some of the deeds illustrate the development of the agricultural landscape by the division of ancient, open fields into smaller, enclosed plots during the seventeenth century. The file of miscellaneous deeds contains documents which relate to the purchased estates of Pentre-pant and Drenewydd.

Wernfach estate,

Family and estate papers of Edward and David Theophilus of Wernfach, being material relating to properties in p. Llanrhystud owned or occupied successively by several interrelated families, notably Evans, Williams and Cruickshank. The properties are Blaenyresgair, Lluest y Conscience (formerly known as Llain y Gwen Sians and Lluest y Gron Sians), Tryal (also spelt Trial, Treal, Trual), Tyn y Clawdd (formerly known as Ty’r Treflick and Twy-yn-y-clawdd), and Wernfach (also known as Wernnewydd). It appears that the properties’ last owners (and Roberts & Evans’s clients) were Edward and David Theophilus of Wernfach, who were also related to the previous owners and/or tenants. Thomas Johnes of Hafod had been the owner (but not the occupier) of some of these lands, and is a party to several of the earlier transactions recorded in these deeds.
