On pp. i-iv is a title page and table of contents in the hand of Lewis Morris.

There are notes and memoranda on the fly-leaves by Lewis Morris and John Morgan. Inside the lower cover is a bill-head of the Wynnstay Arms Hotel or Eagles Inn, Machynlleth. Mary Richards [presumably of Darowen], whose bookplate appears inside the upper cover of the volume, has subsequently added transcripts of 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Sion Tudur, Lewis Glynn Kothi, Tudu[r] Aled, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Gruffudd ap Jenkin ap Llywelyn Vychan, [William Llyn] pp. 352-51, Iolo Goch, Raff ab Robert, Henri Humphreys, and Dafydd ap Gwilim.

Letters offering subscriptions towards the building of a memorial at Penrhosllugwy to Lewis Morris and his brothers Richard and William Morris, who, in 1751, were mainly instrumental in founding the Society of Cymmrodorion

Two volumes of transcripts, [1758], compiled Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), subsequently bound as one volume. Part I (foliated 1-153) contains 'The Gododin an Heroic poem of the sixth Century transcribed from a Copy of Thomas Wiliams of Trefriw M.D., and the Works of Taliessin from Dr Davies of Mallwyd's hand, and other particulars wrote by the Revd Mr. Evan Evans' (f. 1) and includes transcripts of Llyfr Aneirin (ff. 5 verso-36), Llyfr Taliesin (ff. 37-126) and other manuscripts.
Part II (foliated 1-73) contains further poetry, by poets including Llywarch Hen, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ab Edmwnd and Gutun Owain (ff. 1-28, 34 verso-47); notes on Welsh orthography (following the cywydd beginning at f. 19); a list of poets from a manuscript of Dr John Davies (f. 39 verso); a copy of Sir Thomas Wiliems's Preface to his Latin-Welsh Dictionary (ff. 48-64); a letter, dated 26 January 1757, from Lewis Morris to 'Mr. Vaughan of Corsygedol' (ff. 65-69); a letter, dated 14 June 1755, from Richard Morris to the same Mr Vaughan, enclosing a copy of the Transactions of the Society of Cymmrodorion and referring to Lewis Morris and to Goronwy Owen (ff. 70-71); and a table of contents for Part I only, [?in the hand of Owain Myfyr] (f. 72).

A composite volume of the period c. 1869-70, almost entirely in the hand of W[illiam] H[enry] Mounsey and containing miscellaneous extracts and fragments of transcripts of literary and historical texts, with copious annotations by the scribe. Among the contents are a collation of the printed text of Y Marchog Crwydrad (Y Brython, 1862, pp. 1-17, 138-52, 257-67, 361-74) with the text of Llanstephan MS 178; 'Iolo Morganwg's opinion of Lewis Morris'; an Irish-English glossary (part of letter A, 4 pp.); 'Prophwydoliaeth y Ddau Fuddugoliaeth a gant Hwch y Maran', with an English translation; 'Stabat Mater', with an English translation; 'englynion', 'cywyddau', etc. from a variety of sources, such as 'Llyfr Hir' and 'Llyfr Du' and manuscripts of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg') and David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), 'Llythyr at Dafydd Jones [Trefriw]' from John Pywel, Rhyd Eirin, Llansannan, 1766; etc. The spine is lettered 'Welsh Miscellanea - W. H. Mounsey'.

Stray papers of the Waddingham family, some of which relate to the Hafod estate, Cardiganshire, 1794-1910, including transcriptions, 1794, of notes on lead mines by Lewis Morris; cost and contract books of Bwlchyranos and South Hafod Lead Mines, 1859-1868; printed Cardiganshire election registers, 1862-1865; miscellaneous press cuttings collected by T. A miscellaneous volume (496 pp.; original pagination incorrect) in the autograph of Owen Williams (Owain Gwyrfai, 1790-1874), c. 1841-67, of which the main contents are pedigrees of North Wales families transcribed from manuscripts of the Reverend D. Ellis [Cricieth] and Owen Gruffydd, Llanystumdwy and from other sources (with some additions to Owen Williams's own day); transcripts of twenty-four letters, 1752-7 and 1767, from Goronwy Owen to Richard Morris from a (?)manuscript of Mr Loyd [sic], Plasmeini, Festiniog and of eleven letters, 1752-4, from Goronwy Owen to William Morris ('D.S. Dyma lythyrau'r Gwiliedydd im tyb i. O.W.', but this seems doubtful), and extracts transcribed from the introduction to Lewis Morris's 'Celtic Remains' and from [John Reynolds, A Display of Herauldry (1739)] ('Yr hanesion canlynol a dynwyd o hen lyfr achau a argraffwyd o ddeutu amser Cromwel o waith Reinols'). There is a rough index at the beginning and end of the volume. J. H. Davies has written the following note in pencil on the fly-leaf: 'This is the Llyfr Coch which O[wen] W[illiams] always carried under his arm at Eisteddfodau & Literary meetings. It was originally bound in a red cover.'.

A manuscript, 1773-1774, in the hand of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing notes on a Welsh chronicle from Adam to Cadwaladr Fendigaid (ff. 1-62), originally written, with notes, by John Jones, Gellilyfdy, in 1622 (see f. 1), and which seemingly includes Hanes Taliesin (ff. 26-48) (cf. Peniarth MS 111, p. 1); an account of a Latin manuscript of Brut Tysilio, etc., (ff. 63-72) 'which now belongs to Doctor Treadway Nash, near Bevere, Worcester, 1773, bought out of the library of the late Mr. Lewis Morris of Penbryn in Cardiganshire' (see f. 63); a copy of an Edward Lhuyd letter, including the inscription on the Eliseg stone (ff. 73-77); and various other extracts (ff. 78-95 verso). On f. 97 is a note by D[afydd] Ddu.

A manuscript in the hand of J. H. Davies recounting the activities of Lewis Morris ('Llywelyn Ddu o Fôn') in Cardiganshire (with particular reference to the incidents at Esgair-mwyn lead mine in 1751-3 which led to his imprisonment); and a typescript article by [J. H. Davies] entitled 'Morysiaid Môn a'u lle yn Hanes Cymru'.

Twenty-eight holograph letters and a fragment of another, 1728-1764, of the Morrises of Anglesey and their circle, the correspondents being Rhist. Morys, London (4), Llywelin Deheubarth (1), Edward Hughes, Aberystwyth and Gallt Vadog (5), Lewis Morris, London and Galltvadog (10), [Goronwy Owen] 'Gronwy Ddu', Llundain (1), Margt. Owen, Pentrerianell (5), Wm Morris, Caer Gybi Sant (1), an unnamed correspondent, Llanvayr Clwydogau (1), and Richd. Morris, Rhydyraderyn (1). All these letters have been published except possibly that of Rich[ar]d Morris, Rhydyraderyn (1764), and a chronological list with references has now been inserted in the volume. Most of the letters have been published in Additional Letters of the Morrises of Anglesey (1735-1786), ed. Hugh Owen (Y Cymmrodor, Vol. XLIX, Part II (1949). They are followed by copies of letters written to [Hugh Hughes] Hugh ap Hugh, Llwydiarth Esgob by John Thomas [d. 1769], Bangor and Bewmaris [sic], 1764-7 (3), and Rhist. Morys, Llundain, 1760-70 (4, one possibly holograph). At the end of the volume are items of verse by various authors, including S. W., Owen Gruffydd, John Roderick, Sion Onest, 1736, Hugh Morris, Ellis Cadwaladr and Evan Williams 'Telynior yn Llundain' (a translation of 'Lovely Peggy').

Two volumes of miscellaneous transcripts mainly in the hand of Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain, 1761-1849), relating to the antiquities, history, topography, language, and literature of Wales. They include catalogues of Welsh manuscripts; transcripts of manuscripts of Evan Evans (Ieuan Brydydd Hir), of letters of Edward Lhuyd, Lewis Morris, Goronwy Owen, etc., of Strata Marcella abbey charters, of monumental inscriptions, of Evan Evans's transcripts of Richard Farrington's archaeological notes, etc.; notes on Llanerfyl, Llangadfan, and Garthbeibio, written by William Jones, Llangadfan, and sent by him, with letters, to Walter Davies; a letter, 1792, from Edward Williams (Iolo Morganwg) to Walter Davies; an extract, by Lewis Morris, from his Celtic Remains; Marwnad Lewis Morys ... by Goronwy Owen, in the autograph of Evan Evans; etc. Both volumes are indexed.

A collection of historical tracts transcribed by John Thomas from manuscripts of Evan Evans ('Ieuan Brydydd Hir') - a transcript of the Charter granted by Henry VII to the inhabitants of North Wales, 1507; a translation of De Bardis Britannicis Dissertatio, 1760; extracts from correspondence concerning Welsh antiquities between Lewis Morris, Edward Richard, Dr Philips, Blaenpant, and Samuel Pegge, 1759-1760; a transcript of Sir John Wynne's History of the Gwydir Family; and a copy of the pedigree of the families mentioned in that work brought down to 1764, and taken from a manuscript in the possession of Lewis Owen, curate of Llanllechid.
