Some one hundred and thirty letters, 1936-1938, to William Ronald Rees Jones (Keidrych Rhys) from over forty contributors and supporters, mostly covering issues 1-3 of 'Wales'. Some of the most notable correspondents are Roy Campbell (1), Idris Davies (6), Rhys Davies (6), Caradoc Evans (3), George Ewart Evans (5), Margiad Evans (3), Ll. Wyn Griffith (2), Nigel Heseltine (8), Richard Hughes (1), Augustus John (1), Glyn Jones (20), John Lehmann (1), Cedric Morris (2), Mervyn Peake (1), A. G. Prys-Jones (1), Goronwy Rees (2), Ernest Rhys (1), Dylan Thomas (10) and Vernon Watkins (7). Many of the letters are accompanied by manuscript and typescript drafts of poetry and prose, mostly published in 'Wales' nos 1 - 3 (1937). Also included are a few notes and press cuttings compiled by Keidrych Rhys.

Scripts of seven radio broadcasts, 1950-1966, by Glyn Jones, or programmes in which he participated. Some contain manuscript amendments in his hand. Also included is a copy of 'Letter from Tuscany', 1986, by John Ormond, presented by the author to Glyn Jones in 1988. It appears that a number of scripts were given to Meic Stephens in 1988, and two letters from him to Robin Reeves, 1996, are attached to a copy of 'An interview between Rhys Davies and Glyn Jones', 1950.

Papers of the Rhys Davies Trust (est. 1991), relating mainly to the administration of the Trust and the Rhys Davies Short Story Competition. Included are five files of papers relating to the Trust’s financial matters, consisting of valuation reports (2014-2019), account, tax, and investment statements together with related correspondence (2008-2014), and a number of cash and cheque books (2008-2018); five files of Trust administrative documents and correspondence (2008-2020), including papers relating to meeting minutes, accounts, publishing matters, website design, royalties (both of the works of Rhys Davies and of Anna Kavan), funding applications, and the Rhys Davies Short Story competition. Correspondents include Meic Stephens, Peter Finch, and M. Wynn Thomas.

Seven further files contain papers (1895-2012) relating to the life and works of Rhys Davies (1901-1978), apparently collected during research for the biography ‘Rhys Davies: a writer’s life’ (Cardigan: Parthian, 2013) by Meic Stephens, secretary of the Trust 1991-2012. The papers consist of correspondence ([1920s]-2012), including letters from Rhys Davies, Lewis Davies, Louis Quinain, Meic Stephens, Fred Blackmore, David Ellis, John Harris, and Gwyn Pritchard; and photographs (1918-1990), mainly of Rhys Davies and friends and family, including Lewis Davies, Gertrude (‘Gertie’) Davies, Anna Kavan, Fred Urquhart, Louise Callender, Colyn Davies, Nina Hamnett, Esther & Charles Lahr, Raymond B. Marriott, Louis Taylor, and Philip Burton; together with notes and cuttings.

Additionally, the archive contains three files of press cuttings and copies of articles (1929-[1987]), collected and written either by or about Rhys Davies, including articles from Keidrych Rhys’s ‘Wales’, and ‘Anglo-Welsh Review’; several items of memorabilia, comprising Rhys Davies’s passport (stamped 1968-1978), OBE medal (awarded 1968), a decorative glass plaque with lettering ’RHYS’ (undated), an ‘MD Magazine’ 10th anniversary medal (1967), and a small box of rosary beads; and nine printed books, consisting of Rhys Davies’ works ‘Marianne’ (London: 1951, signed by author), ‘A Time to Laugh’ (two copies, 1937 & 1938, both with note & signature of Davies), 'Selected Stories' (London/Dublin: [1945], with slip dated 1945), and 'Boy With a Trumpet' (London: 1949, with undated press cutting); together with ‘The Last Sister’ by Fred Urquhart (London: 1950, with note by author), ‘Shakespeare’s Sonnets’ (with slip dated 1945), and translations of Anna Kavan's works ‘L’adversaire Céleste’ (Paris: 1947, with a sketch dated 1951) and ‘Mercury’ (Valencia: 2006, with a letter to the Rhys Davies Trust).

The series consits of papers relating to the 1991 Rhys Davies Short Story Competition and papers relating to the 1996 competition. There are no papers relating to any of the competitions held between these dates.

Thirty-three letters and cards, 1990-1993, from Philip Burton to David Arthur Callard, initially relating to the latter's study of the writer Rhys Davies but increasingly concerned with the publication of Richard and Philip: The Burtons (1992) and possible publication of other works of Philip Burton; together with three letters, 1991-1992, relating to the foreword by Elizabeth Taylor to the published memoirs.

Over one hundred letters, 1954-86, to Keidrych Rhys from various correspondents (surnames A-D), mainly in his capacity as editor of Wales and Welsh correspondent of The People, together with poems, short stories and essays submitted to him for publication. The correspondents and contributors include Leo Abse (1) 1966, Glyn Daniel (1) 1977, Rhys Davies (13, with one poem (transcript) and an article) 1958-78, and Desmond Donnelly (1) 1960.

Miscellaneous letters taken from various books within T. Rowland Hughes's library, including letters to the novelist from Idris Davies, and to his wife Eirene Rowland Hughes from Rhys Davies and Berta [Ruck]. Also included are three radio scripts by T. Rowland Hughes and others: 'From Saint's day to Saint's day', 1935, 'Old King Cole', 1936 and 'Steel song', 1939.

The file comprises mainly of correspondence, 1968-1969, relating to the preliminary meeting and other early meetings of the English Language Section of the Academi. The preliminary meeting was arranged by Meic Stephens and the file includes invitations sent out by him, letters of reply, and letters commenting on this first meeting. The file also includes letters inviting writers to become members of the Academi, their replies and lists of those writers who have accepted or declined membership. There are a few references to discussions about the establishment of a new English language literary magazine, an idea which was rejected for the time being.
