Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the townships and parish of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, on the borders of Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire. In the Wynnstay rentals these properties are listed under the estates of Glantanat, Llangedwyn, Glascoed and Llansilin. Two bundles of deeds record substantial purchases by Sir William Williams of Le Forrest and the Kevenhire estate in Banhadla and Llanarmon Mynydd Mawr, Denbighshire, in 1685 and 1698. Other deeds record acquisitions by Watkin Kyffin of Glascoed and Edward Vaughan of Celynog and Llwydiarth. Lordships of Arwystli and Cyfeiliog, Cyfeiliog (Mathafarn) estate and Talerddig, title deeds,

Title deeds recording the acquisition of the lordships or manors of Arwystli and Cyfeiliog by Sir Thomas Myddelton and subsequently the Vaughan family of Llwydiarth, the grant of the lordship of Cyfeiliog to the Pugh family of Mathafarn, and deeds of the Purcell family of Dinthill and Nantcriba relating to the manor of Talerddig. Lincolnshire title deeds,

Title deeds relating to Lincolnshire, mostly in connection with the grant by Queen Henrietta Maria to Sir Richard Wynn of lands in Coggisland, Alderland, part of the dissolved Abbey of Croyland, South and North Fens in the manors of Spalding, Pinchbeck, Weston and Moulton, and Deeping Fen, comprising an original deed box, 1635-1637, and further separate deeds, 1635-1653; there is also a much later deed of covenant concerning lands in Davenport, Middle Raisen, 1814.

Stray bonds,

Bonds, recognizances in the nature of a statute merchant or statute staple, etc. separated from other documents with which they once belonged. They relate mainly to payments of debts, appearances in court, covenants in title deeds or obedience to arbitration awards. A large proportion of them concerns the Thelwall family of Plas y Ward. They are listed as "a bundle of old bonds", 1489-1669; miscellaneous bonds, 1518-1613; bonds for payment, recognizances, etc., 1520-1682; a parcel of "old bonds", 1554-1687; bonds for performance of covenants, 1614-1698; bonds of Sir Richard Wynn and Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, 1619-1638. and bonds for payments for Caernarfonshire rectories, 1624-1631.

Schedules and abstracts of deeds,

Volumes containing original schedules of deeds compiled by the estate in 1710-1822, 1740-1789, 1770, and 1817, together with loose schedules and abstracts of deeds, [early 17th cent]-[c. 1910]. The original volumes list family settlements, wills and title deeds for estates gained though inheritance, marriage or purchase, although the order of the contents changes according to the cataloguing system adopted by the estate at the time. The total date range of deeds described in these schedules covers 1185-1910.

Employee records, Wynnstay estate,

Records relating to employees of the main Wynnstay estate in and near Ruabon, comprising two tradesmen’s time books, 1838-1849, and 1856-1857; and papers relating to appointments of estate employees, 1863-1930.

Tithe apportionments and other tithe papers, Wynnstay and Vale of Clwyd,

Papers deriving from the ownership and apportionment of tithes concerning the Wynnstay and Vale of Clwyd estate, comprising lists of tithes in the Manor of Valle Crucis, Wrexham, Stansty, etc., [pre-1719]; a tithe apportionment for Llangollen, 1841; tithe apportionment for Erbistock, 1843; tithe apportionment for Erlas, Gresford, (Watermark 1849); table and list of tithe rent charge, Plas Issa and Tatham farms, Ruabon, (Watermark 1859)-1873; and particulars of tithe rent charges due to the owners of Plas Madoc, 1890.

Maenan lordship

The Maenan lordship collection comprises property in p's Eglwysfach, Llansanffraid Glan Conwy, Llangernyw, and Llysfaen (ecclesiastical parish in Llandrillo-yn-Rhos), cos Denb. & Caern. With regard to the dates in this series, R64/12 (1809) would contain a rental for the year 1809, rather than a rental collected at Lady Day 1809. This pattern has been followed throughout this collection, since some of the rents are collected at Lady Day, others at Michaelmas, while the dates of others are not given. Collectors: William Williams, 1809-1823, John Maughan, 1824-1838, and Thomas Turnor, 1839-1857.
