Poems '76

The file comprises papers, [1975]-1976, relating to Poems '76, ed. Glyn Jones (Llandysul, 1976). The poems included in the anthology appeared between 1974 and 1976, though it seems they were composed, and some published, before this period. The collected poems of A. G. Prys-Jones

The file comprises papers, [1972], [1979]-1980, [1985], and 1987-1989, relating to The Collected Poems of A. G. Prys-Jones, ed. by Don Dale-Jones (Llandysul, 1988), which includes a foreword by Glyn Jones. The file mainly consists of correspondence between Don Dale-Jones and Glyn Jones, 1987-1989, mostly regarding the anthology; with a typescript draft of the foreword, 1980; and typescript copies of the contents and introduction to the work, entitled 'Selected poems', by Don Dale-Jones, 1985 and 1987. Also included is a draft letter from Glyn Jones to Roland Mathias.

Poetry and prose readings

The file comprises papers, [1950]-1990 (with gaps), relating to various poetry and prose readings and performances which include poems by Glyn Jones, and events which he arranged or in which he participated. These include notes for a reading by Glyn Jones which appears to have been delivered during the funeral or memorial service of Gwyn Thomas, 1981; a passage from The valley, the city, the village, [?1987]; and notes for a reading by Glyn Jones on the occasion of Roland Mathias's 75th birthday, 1990. A number of events were presented by, or in association with, the Arts Council of Great Britain Welsh Committee and later the Welsh Arts Council. The file also contains programmes, correspondence and notes, including a draft review of the poetry festival, Poetry at the Mermaid, pertaining to poetry festivals held in England, 1954 and 1961.

The file includes drafts, 1976, of the poem by John Tripp, 'Poet in the village', on the occasion of the publication of Selected poems, and a copy of the script of the play 'It's not by his beak you judge a woodcock', 1972, adapted by John Tripp from the short story by Glyn Jones; typescript copies of poems by Roland Mathias, [1944x1980], some of which contain manuscript amendments; and copies of plays by Dedwydd Jones, with printed leaflets and covering letter [?1963x1973].

The file comprises mainly of correspondence, 1968-1969, relating to the preliminary meeting and other early meetings of the English Language Section of the Academi. The preliminary meeting was arranged by Meic Stephens and the file includes invitations sent out by him, letters of reply, and letters commenting on this first meeting. The file also includes letters inviting writers to become members of the Academi, their replies and lists of those writers who have accepted or declined membership. There are a few references to discussions about the establishment of a new English language literary magazine, an idea which was rejected for the time being. The Writing in Wales Welsh Academy resource pack for schools was published in 1986 with the support of the Welsh Arts Council and the assistance of the Polytechnic of Wales. The pack was edited by Tony Curtis and Cliff James and contributers included Gillian Clarke, Jonah Jones and Roland Mathias.
The group contains various correspondence, papers and drafts of articles prepared for the Writing in Wales Welsh Academy Research pack.
