Llangynfelyn (misc. properties)

Title deeds of houses and lands in the parish of Llangynfelyn, 1541-1760. Boundary clauses mention the bog and the river Clettwr. The earliest deeds record transactions of the Jankyn family, namely a gift by Jankyn ap Ieuan ap David, of Y Berth and Llain Bengam to Gr' ap Ho'll ap Ieuan Here, 1541; and purchases by Morgan Ll'n ap Jankyn of Y Garrack Selfock and other lands, [1547x1553]. Further deeds refer to Tir y Vron Goch, the water mill, Tythin Ynys Tyder in Llannerch Goch sold by John ap Rees ap John and Mawld his wife to Griffyth ap Ievan ap Jenkin, and Tythin Gwern Rees Taylour, 1574-1617; parties include Richard Phillipps of Aberystwyth and others. Properties acquired by the Pryse family include Lle Tuy D'd, Klwt y Maen Gwnion, Llyest y Wayn Bwll, a moiety of Y Neyadd and Tythen Y Neyadd, and Crosse Howse, purchased by John Pryse of Gogerddan, 1581; Tythin Allt Ieuan ap Eignion, purchased from Howell ap Jenkin ap Ieuan ap Dio and Henry ap Howell ap Jenkin by [Sir] Richard Pryse, 1596; Lle Llyest Ieuan ap Howell Benlloid in Blaen Clettwr and Melyn y Coyed, acquired by Sir Richard Pryse, 1605-1607; and Tuthin y Velin and Tuthin Ergid y Bwa, purchased by Dame Gwen Pryse, 1627. Later deeds comprise a bond to Richard John of Ynys Fochno, 1720; exemplification of a fine whereby Thomas Pryse gained a moiety of the mill and other, unspecified properties, 1727; and a lease by Richard Morgan of Henllys, of Tyddin Tynyrhelig and Lletty’rfran, 1760.

Title deeds relating to the farm of Brynllys or Tythen Bryn y Llys in the township of Henllys [near Borth], 1541-1666, 1799. The deeds comprise gifts to John ap Ieuan Tegge, 1541, and John ap Ieuan ap Ieuan Tegge, 1552, and a bond for reconveyance by Morgan ap Ieuan Lloid, mortgagee of David ap John ap Ieuan ap Ieuan Teg, 1564; a mortgage by Thomas ap Morgan to Sir Richard Pryse of Gogerddan, 1609, and subsequent quitclaims by (?the same) Thomas Morgan
and Morgan Thomas, 1614, 1635; a deed of sale by John Lloyd of Narberth, Pembrokeshire, to Sir Richard Pryse, of land called Y Llain ym Mryn y Llys, land lying to the west of Gwearne Leary and Y Llain Hir, within the demesne land of the capital messuage of Brynllys, witnessed by Lewis Evans, notary public, 1666; and a lease agreement by Pryse Pryse of Newwood, Oxfordshire, to John Pierce, 1799.

Title deeds of houses and lands in the township of Cynnull Mawr in the parish of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn, 1541- The first file is miscellaneous with contents dated 1541-1729. The remaining files refer to specific properties: Tythyn Lle y Kynghordy in Esgern Argoed, 1549-1586; Llanvred (Glanfread), 1550-1556; Bwlch y Thyallt, Esgair Argoed, etc., 1577-1583; Llain a Thuy Ievan Moris ap Harry, 1609-1610; and Cynnullmawr, Argoed and Penybank, 1716-1839

The subsequent files contain deeds relating to Ty yn y Ddole, Llain Galed and Tuy yn y Berth, 1546-1597; Llannerch Goch, 1546-1671; Penryn Madog and [part of] Parke Newydd in Llannerch Goch, 1557-1597; Gwyddynys, 1562-1659; Lodge Park or Parke Bodvage and [another part of] Parke Newydd, 1569-1661; Tre’r-ddol, 1816-1898; and Tynllwyn Farm and Morfa Trwyn Buarth, etc., 1881-1886. The earlier files record acquisitions by John Pryse and Sir Richard Pryse in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Other names include the families of Jankyn or Jenkin, Phellippe or Phillips of Aberystwyth, Vaughan of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn and Guttyn or Gutto.

Pembrokeshire title deeds (parishes)

Title deeds for properties in the parishes of Amroth, Crunwear, Hodgeston, Ludchurch, St Issells, Tenby and elsewhere in Pembrokeshire, 1542-1874. The properties include The Hill and Plas Bronielake in Crunwear, Trevane in Tenby, Upper Trelissey in Amroth, and Hopshill, St Issells. Many of the deeds involve Nicholas Lewes (Lewis) of Hean Castle, James Lewes and John Lewes of Coedmor, and Lewis Pryse of Abernantbychan and Woodstock. Other names include the Griffith family of Amroth and Barlow of Slebech. Several of the leases were made to the Barzey family of Tenby, usually reserving rights of coal mining and timber to the estate owners. One file contains deeds and papers proving the title of Pryse Pryse to the advowson of the rectory of Hodgeston, 1657-1729. Other files relate to the founding of New Hedges Church of England School, Tenby, 1852, and a conveyance to the Pembroke and Tenby Railway Company, 1865

Title deeds relating to various properties in Pembrokeshire, including a tenement in Coed Rhath acquired by Owen Philip of Cil-san, 1542; properties in Amroth and Crunwear, including a newly built house at Blanetudwell belonging to Roger Griffith, 1635; unnamed properties conveyed by Robert Toye of Llangathen to Nicholas Lewis, 1641; and Kings Land or Censyrens Hyll, Hodgeston, 1649. Other items comprise a release and letter of attorney to Nicholas Lewis by Hugh and Mathew Rochfort of Wexford, 1638, 1641; bonds by Roger Browne of Trelissey and others to John Barlow of Slebech, 1635, and to Nicholas Lewis, 1639-1663; and an acquittance by Nicholas Lewis to John Barlow for [mortgage] money paid for Blanedilo alias Pendilo, 1641.
