Poetry

A manuscript in the hand of Evan Evans containing poetry mostly derived, indirectly, from the Black Book of Carmarthen (Peniarth MS 1) and the Red Book of Hergest (Oxford, Jesus College MS 111). A table of contents, in a later hand, is on pp. 179-180.
This transcript was adopted by the editors of the Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales for their text or for their notes.

A manuscript in the hand of Evan Evans, containing mainly poetry by Bleddyn Fardd, Lewis Glyn Cothi, Goronwy Owen and others (ff. 1-49, 56-62); and a list of feast days (ff. 50-55).
This manuscript was used for the Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales, partly for text and partly for variant notes. Peniarth MS 111 seems to be the original of this manuscript. A note on f. 12 states 'Hyd yma ym tyb i yr yscrifennodd Roesser Morys allan or Llyfr Du o Gaer Vyrddin'.

Poetry and a history of Owain Glyndŵr

A composite volume mostly in the autograph of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), containing poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym, Cynddelw, Guto'r Glyn and Ieuan Fardd and others, some of it 'collected by Dr. Davies of Mallwyd ... [and] transcribed from a MS. which belonged to Bp. Humphreys' (see f. 1) (ff. 1-48, 61-155); a History of Owain Glyndŵr 'out of William Morris [Maurice] of Llansilin's book' (ff. 49-59); etc.
A letter, 7 September 1792, from Hy Hughes, Pencraig, to 'David' is pasted in at the end of the volume.

A manuscript containing poetry, etc., copied 'in the year 1757 by me Evan Evans then of Merton College [Oxford]' (f. 133 verso), mostly from the Red Book of Hergest; and from Jesus College MS 3 (ff. 114-132)
It appears that these transcripts, rather than the original manuscripts, were consulted for publication in the Myvyrian Archaiology.

Eulogium Britanniæ

A manuscript in the autograph of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing a copy of Nennius's 'Eulogium Britanniæ' (ff. 1-57); notes relating to Nennius copied from a manuscript in the hand of Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt (ff. 67-88); triads copied from a manuscript in the hand of Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt, by Lewis Morris in 1738, with marginal and intertextual notes (ff. 89-112), and from the Red Book of Hergest (ff. 137-152); 'Araith Iolo Goch' (ff. 114-116); poetry, the poets cited including Aneirin, Iolo Goch and Mabclaf ap Llywarch (ff. 119-157b); etc. On f. 189 is a table of contents in a later hand. On f. iv the title page reads 'Y Cynfeirdd Cymreig, Vol. II'.
This manuscript is the source of the text of Series I of the Triads in the Myvyrian Archaiology Vol. ii, pp. 1-22. The englynion at ff. 119-122b are practically the same as those in Myvyrian Archaiology, pp. 543-547, col. i, but that the arrangement is different. The text at f. 132 was copied in September 1758 from an autograph manuscript of Edward Lhuyd. The text at f. 154 verso was transcribed from Llyfr Coch Nannau (see Mostyn MS 144) 'and collated it with my brother Lewis Morris MSS'.

Y Cynfeirdd Cymreig

A manuscript relating to the Welsh 'cynfeirdd' and inscribed 'Y llyfr hwn a ddatyscrifennais i Evan Evans o law deg y Doctor Davies o Fallwyd', i.e. taken from British Library Addl. MS 14869.
The text of this manuscript was reproduced in the Myvyrian Archaiology.
