The correspondence comprises incoming letters, 1868-1948, and letter books,, 1866-1937, of successive agents of the Voelas and Cefnamwlch estate, many of which are replies to incoming letters. Much of the correspondence is concerned with routine estate affairs such as vacant tenancies, repairs, collection of rents and rent increases or allowances, harvesting and harvest weather. Only letters illuminating estate policy or new developments are noted in the descriptions of individual bundles/volumes which follow, together with matters of local interest to the estate, especially churches and church livings and schools, as well as some matters of Welsh or British significance (e.g. tithe riots, agricultural depression) followed by the appropriate page references. The hard copy catalogue contains a more detailed description and indexes of incoming correspondence. Further estate correspondence, catalogued about fifteen years later than these letters, are in Series EA3.
