An imperfect volume, the contents consisting of transcripts, in a hand possibly of the first half of the seventeenth century, of Welsh poems being mainly strict-metre poems in the form of 'cywyddau'. These are numbered and, if the manuscript when complete contained the whole sequence, the folios at the beginning containing poems 1-18 and most of poem 19 are now wanting. Many mid-volume and possibly some end folios are also missing. An imperfect manuscript: of the original manuscript (see note on number of folios) thirty-two folios at the beginning (as per a previous foliation ) ? containing poems numbered 1-28 and part of poem 29, numerous mid- volume folios, and an indeterminate number of folios at the end appear to have been lost. pp. 1-178 (excepting p. 176 and later insertions) are in the hand of the Glamorgan poet and copyist Llywelyn Siôn, the scribe of NLW MSS 970E, 6511B, and 13075-13076B (see TLLM, tt. 157-60). The greater part of the remainder of the volume appears to be in a later seventeenth century hand or hands. The contents consist of transcripts of Welsh poems in free and strict metres, the free-metre verse being largely in the form of 'cwndidau' (see TLLM, tt. 120-43). Included is a corpus of poems by the sixteenth century Glamorgan poets Thomas ap Ieuan ap Rys (25) and Hopgin Thom[as] Phylip (22). (Bangor, l909), and a large proportion of the remaining poems in L. J. Hopkin James and T. C. Evans: Hen Gwndidau, Carolau, a Chywyddau . . . (Bangor, 1910).

A seventeenth century manuscript consisting of eighty-three folios containing transcripts of Welsh strict-metre verse, being almost entirely 'cywyddau' and 'englynion'. The poems were transcribed by Thomas ab Ieuan, the copyist of NLW MSS 13061-13062B, 13669B,13085B, in 1684 (see note in the scribe's own hand on f. 80 verso - 'Llyma lyfr kywyddav Thomas Ievan o Dre'r brynn ag ef i hvnan ai ysgryvennoedd ef pan oedd oedran yn harglwydd ni iesu grist 1684'; see also TLLM, tt. 170-71). Included are 'englynion' by Robin Ddu, Huw Pennant, Rhys Nanmor and others, and possibly the transcriber himself (see TLLM, tt. 170-71); 'cywyddau' by Robin Ddu (7), Rhys Nanmor, Huw Pennant, Dafydd Gorlech (2), Iolo Goch (3), Dafydd Nannmor (2), Siôn Mawddwy, Bedo Brwynllys, Guto'r Glyn (3) and others; and an 'awdl' ('odl vraith') by Rhys Nanmor. There are marginal notes in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg').

An imperfect, composite volume (pp. 33-86, two imperfect, unnumbered leaves, pp. 93-146, with p. 72 blank) containing transcripts of Welsh strict-metre verse, mostly in the form of 'cywyddau', by Tudur Aled, William Phylip, Siôn Phylip, Siôn Dafydd Siencin, David ap Gwilim, Owen Gwynedd, William Lleyn, Evan Tew (1590), Ellis Rowland, Tomas Prys ('o Blas Iolyn'), Dafydd ddu ('o hiraddig'), Morys Thomas Howel, Siôn Tudur ('Swyddog Yn perthun i Esgobeth Llan Elwau'), Roger Cyffin, Gwerfil Mechain, Evan ap R. ap Llewellyn, Gutto'r Glyn, Gruffydd Owen, Edward Vrien, Edward ap Rhus, Rhys Cain, Ierwerth Fynglwyd, Rhees ap Ednyfed, Rhydderch ab Evan Llwyd ('Meisdr o ddysg'), Doctor John Cent, Sir David Trefor, Dafydd Evan ab Owen, Dafydd Nanmor, and Gryffydd Gryg. 'Evan Williams, Gardener', referred to in the margin of p. 63 as the owner of the volume in 1779, is possibly the same person.

A volume containing transcripts of Welsh verse in strict metre (consisting mainly of 'cywyddau') transcribed, October [18]89 - February [18]90, by I[saac] F[oulkes] [newspaper proprietor and publisher]. Many of the poems are annotated to indicate that they were copied out of a volume in the possession of 'W.J.' of Llangollen, and the whole work appears to be an incomplete transcript of NLW MS 670D, which itself consists of a collection of Welsh poems transcribed by William Jones ('Bleddyn'), antiquary, local historian, etc., of Llangollen. A note on p. 123 indicates that three 'englynion' by [Thomas Edwards] 'Twm o'r Nant', which were to be found at this point in W[illiam] J[ones]'s volume [NLW MS 670D], had not been copied by the transcriber, as he intended including them in a proposed new edition of that poet's works, to be published by him in 1889. A second note on the same page indicates that, similarly, fourteen 'cywyddau' by Tudur Aled had not been transcribed in the present volume, but had been copied into another book, with the intention of publishing these and other poems by the same bard, together with poems by Guto'r Glyn and Sion Tudur. In fact, fourteen 'cywyddau' and four other poems by Tudur Aled, and all of the poems by Guto'r Glyn and Sion Tudur, which appear in NLW MS 670D, have been omitted from the present volume, the presence of poems by the two latter bards in NLW MS 670D being usually indicated by the transcriber by quoting the title, or title and first line, of such works. A note on p. 153 states that eighty ' cywyddau' by Dafydd ap Gwilym [which appeared in William Jones's book, i.e ., NLW MS 670D, pp. 149-263], had been used to correct the published edition of that poet's work ('Yma daw LXXX Cywydd o waith Dafydd ab Gwilym, y rhai a ddefnyddiwyd i gywiro ei waith argraffedig'). These eighty poems, and also five retaliatory poems composed by Gruffydd Grug, in a poetic contention with Dafydd ap Gwilym, and found interspersed among the eighty 'cywyddau', have been omitted from the present volume. A further note on p. 264 states that the last three 'cywyddau' [in NLW MS 670D] had not been copied, as the transcriber believed the text to be so corrupt, that they did not merit transcription. A fly-leaf is marked 'Bk i', and this possibly connects the volume with NLW MS 19313, which, marked on a fly-leaf 'Bk ii', consists of a similar volume of Welsh verse transcribed, March - April [18]90, by I[saac] F[oulkes], again, by inference, from a book in the possession of W[illiam] J[ones].

A volume of transcripts of Welsh poetry. The first fifty-one folios contain copies, in a 16th-century hand, of 'cywyddau' by Siôn Cent, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Madog Benfras, Gruffudd Gryg, Dafyddd ab Edmwnd, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Tudur Aled, Dafydd Nanmor and others. The remainder of the volume (ff. 52-147) is in several hands of the end of the 17th century. At the head of f. 52 is the following note:- 'Haec sequens Collectio facta fuit Opera P.V.A.M. ...', the initials probably representing the name of Peter Vaughan, M.A., who was vicar of Llangernyw from 1682 to 1689. This part of the manuscript contains the names and arms of the fifteen tribes of Gwynedd; pedigrees of some Abergele families (among them that of Peter Vaughan himself) taken from the books of Sion Tudur and Rhys Cain; an account of the five residences of Sir Roger Mostyn in 1682; poetry in strict and free metres by Sion Tudur, Morus Dwyfech, Richard Phylip, Gryffydd Phylip, Guto'r Glyn, Maredudd ap Rhys, Edmwnd Prys, Lewis Glyn Cothi and others; etc.

The later sequence of pagination was carried out by Mary Richards, Darowen. Amongst the later marginalia is a copy of an undated (1 May [ ]) notice to let Ty'n Bedw, parish of Llangadfan, Montgomeryshire. The spine is lettered 'Kywyddau, Achau, Compot Manuel'.
