A volume (watermark 1832), containing transcripts, [1832x1845], in an unknown hand, of correspondence, 1763-1774, of Evan Lloyd, the poet and satirist of Frondderw, Bala.
The transcripts include twelve letters from Lloyd to a number of correspondents, including his father John, 1763-1769 (ff. 9 recto-verso, 14 verso-18 verso, 21-24, 28 verso-29), his brother Robert, 1763-1768 (ff. 10 verso-12, 27 recto-verso), William Price, Rhiwlas, 1768 (ff. 25-26), and David Garrick, [1770x1774] (ff. 54 verso-56 verso), together with thirteen letters addressed to Lloyd from Garrick, [1764]-1774 (ff. 13 recto-verso, 36 verso-37, 46-47 verso), Sir John Fielding, 1769-[1771] (ff. 30, 35-36), William Vaughan, Corsygedol, 1770 (ff. 33 verso-34), J[ohn] Curre [of Itton Court], [?1766]-[?1773] (ff. 38-39 verso, 50-53 verso), and others. Also included are transcripts of poems by Lloyd (ff. 40-44), an epitaph by Garrick for William Hogarth (f. 37) and a 1784 letter from Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon, to a Mr Evans (f. 45). The letters are not amongst those reproduced in Cecil Price, 'The Unpublished Letters of Evan Lloyd', National Library of Wales Journal, 8 (1953-54), 264-305, 426-448. Each letter bears a note stating that the transcript was 'copied from the original in the possession of Wm Roberts Esqr Surgeon Carnarvon', and each bears the signature of 'O. Jones' (probably Owen Jones, general agent, who was town steward of Caernarfon, 1835-1850).

A memorandum book of deputy lieutenancy and other local government activities mainly in the hundred of Maelor Saesneg kept largely by or for Sir Thomas Hanmer (1612-1678) and his son Sir John Hanmer (d. 1701). It contains transcripts of estreats of assessments of subsidies, royal aids and grants, 1594, 1663-5, 1673, 1689 and 1691-2, levied upon the hundred of Maelor Saesneg; tables of proportions of taxes levied upon the counties of Wales and upon the different townships of Maelor Saesneg and Hope, 1665-1728; circulars and correspondence which passed between the Lords of the Council, Richard Vaughan, Earl of Carbery (1600?-1686) and the deputy lieutenants of Flintshire and Denbighshire concerning the establishment and administration of the militia, 1661-3, an account of the three months' assessment for defraying the expense of the militia, 1663-5, and lists of persons charged with foot soldiers in Maelor Saesneg and Hope, 1661 and 1683; precedents of deputy lieutenancy warrants; a list of burgesses of Overton, 1679; Bettisfield estate rentals, 1678-82; an estimate of the charge of maintaining at sea fifty ships (listed) of the Royal Navy, 1670.

A photostat facsimile of Balliol MS 353, a commonplace book of Sir John Price (1502?-1555). The manuscript contains genealogical memoranda relating to the family of John Price (Siôn ap Rhys) and his wife, Johan Williamson, notes on Welsh bardic grammar, proverbs, triads, and miscellaneous memoranda; transcripts of Welsh poetry including eulogies of the compiler and of his ancestors. A transcript by Alfred Neobard Palmer (1847-1915), with annotations by him, of a copy in Chirk Castle of a lampoon relating to Morgan Lloyd (Morgan Llwyd o Wynedd) (1619-1659), Major-General Thomas Mytton (1608-1656) (Halston) and other Parliamentarians. The work was entitled A new Ballad of the Plague wherewith Wrexham in Denbighshire is sorely tormented this year 1647.

Ellis was the editor of the first volume of Gweithiau Morgan Llwyd o Wynedd (Bangor, 1899), in which was reproduced the text of the first edition of Llyfr y Tri Aderyn (1653) (pp. 151-266).
