Penegoes (misc. properties)

Title deeds of miscellaneous houses and lands in the townships of Uwch-y-coed and Is-y-coed in the parish of Penegoes, Montgomeryshire, 1558-1674. Boundary clauses include the rivulets Carrog and Dewlas, Dolguog, the old Dyfi (Dovey) bridge, Y Domen Vawr and Y Domen Vedw. Deeds of the Pughe family comprise a final concord naming Richard ap Hugh ap Ieuan, 1573; a mortgage to Rowland Pughe of Mathafarn, of lands at Aberdulas and Y Pwll Dyu, 1574; a sale deed of land at Maes Penegoes to Rowland Pughe, 1586/7; a deed for the sale of meadows (named) at Uwch-y-coed to Richard Pughe of Dolyrafonddu, Llanwrin, 1612; and a release by Robert Pughe to Richard Pughe of Tythyn y Llain Fforchog, Kay Vallen Tudder and Kay'r Werne at Eskair Rhwraynog, and a toft or site of a former house at Aberhirnant, 1628/9. Other properties include Tythyn Esgir Wyddgryg, in a family settlement of Griffith ap Res ap Grif of Uwch-y-coed, 1557/8, and mortgaged by his son, Lewis ap Griff' ap Res, 1571; Tyddyn Ros y Garreg and Tir Rynald, mortgaged by Henry ap Ll'n ap Mores of Machynlleth to Ll'n ap Res ap Ieuan ap Gwilkok, 1568-1571; Tothyn Braich Always and Cover y Garreg Lloid, belonging to Richard and Oliver Harbart (Herbert), 1603[x1616]. There is also evidence of a family settlement by William Blesse of Darowen and Elinor his wife, one of the daughters and co-heiresses of Morgan David Owen of Llanwrin, deceased, to provide Bridgett Griffith of Llanwrin, widow, with a third part of a messuage called Y Greiglen Dduy Ucha, 1674.

Diary of Robert Parry

The diary or journal of Robert Parry (b. 1564) of Eriviatt, Denbighshire, son of Harry ap Robert of Twysog, recording events which occurred during the period 1559-1613. The diary as it is now stands is incomplete: the first page extant has been mutilated, and there are no entries at all for the years between 1571 and 1581. Interspersed among records of greater length such as 'A true disclosure of the travell & Journey of Robert Parry gent. vnto Italie', 1600, copies of speeches made by King James I, the terms of the peace concluded between England, Spain, and the Archdukes, 1604, and Letters which passed between the Sultan of Turkey and Sigismund III, king of Poland and Sweden, 1612-13, are brief notes of events at Court, births, marriages and deaths (largely in Denbighshire families), accidents, outbreaks of the plague, executions, strange happenings, &c. With the manuscript is a letter (post 1900) from Charles S. Mainwaring.

Articles in a cause before Walter Haddon, David Lewys, Thomas Huyche and William Mouse, doctors of law, between Thomas Griffith, clerk, and Thomas Davyes, doctor of laws, for the possession of the rectory of Trefferu with the chapels of Llan Rwychyn and y bettus; with a copy of a decree by Richard Davyes, Stp, Thomas Yonge and Roland Meyrig, professors of law, and Richard Pates, learned in the law, restoring Thomas Davyes to the said rectory.

Henllys (Tythyn Bron Heilyn and misc. properties)

Title deeds of miscellaneous houses and lands in the township of Henllys in the parish of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn, 1560-1670. Several deeds concern Tythyn Bron Heilyn, occupied by Richard ap Harrie ap Rees Duy in 1574, sold together with Erw Vawr and Shettyn y Tir Coch (part of Tythyn Pant y Dwn), by Richard Morgan of Henllys and his family to Sir Richard Pryse of Gogerddan, 1655, leased in 1658, and conveyed to trustees by Sir Richard Pryse to indemnify James Jenkin, Griffith Evans and Morgan David from a bond entered into with David Morgan of Llanfihangel Genau'r-glyn, 1669/70. Other properties include Lleine Gwar y Vron Goch, Llain Pant yr Ywen, Haner yr Ynys Wen and Haner yr Ynyssoedd Cochion, Loyn Kynffricke, Tythyn Bryn yr Oyen, purchased by Sir Richard Pryse from Ievan ap John ap Ieuan Thomas, Golley vch Mores his wife and women of the Harrye family, 1608, and Gwerne Armon, with other lands, acquired by Sir Richard Pryse from Griffith ap John ap Harrie, 1612. The Priory, Cardigan, estate papers and title deeds

Miscelllaneous deeds and documents of the Priory estate, Cardigan, which was sold to Gogerddan by Edward Phillips in 1705, and was occupied by the Picton, Lloyd, Jones and Thomas families. It was conveyed to Albany Wallis in trust for John Pughe Pryse, 1770, and afterwards sold by the latter’s mother, Maria Charlotta Lloyd, to Thomas Johnes, 1774., The series comprises letters, [c. 1560], 1707, deeds, 1651-1721, an agreement to discharge debts, 1705-1708, a survey [c. 1705], rentals [1705x1774], and accounts and receipts, [post-1744] -1766.

Machynlleth (Isygarreg) title deeds

Title deeds of houses and lands in the township of Isygarreg in the parish of Machynlleth, 1560-1683. One file relates to miscellaneous, named properties, 1560-1683. The other files concern specifically Erwi Mawr and Dol Ddyfi, 1567-1618; Tythyn Kae'r Bobian, 1574-1640; Y Garsiwn, Ysgubor Newydd, etc., 1606-1672; and Tythyn y Velindre and Gelly Lydan, 1607-1642. The deeds record purchases by Rowland Pughe of Mathafarn, 1618-1637, and by John Pughe, 1670. Other names include David Cadwaladr of Berriw and Bridgett, his wife, Ellis Lloyd of Ruabon and Morgan Rees ap Ieuan ap Howell.
