An envelope containing correspondence, 1969-1977, between John Jones Cardiff Ltd, the Welsh Arts Council and Wyn Griffith, relating to the translation of Y Byw sy'n Cysgu, is also included.

Seventy-three letters in Welsh, 1923-83, from the novelist and short-story writer Kate Roberts to Saunders Lewis, reflecting the growth of Kate Roberts as a writer and the early recognition and constant encouragement shown to her in her literary career by Saunders Lewis. Other matters discussed include the activities of the Welsh Nationalist Party mainly before 1945 and the state of Welsh literature in general during the period of the correspondence.

Letters, 1937, concerning a claim for damages by Morris T. Williams, managing director of Gwasg Gee, and his wife, Kate Roberts, against Periodical Press Ltd, following the allegedly defamatory reference to them in an article in the News Review, 21 January 1937, including two letters from I. D. Hooson and Caradog Prichard (ff. 12-14).

Maent yn cynnwys chwech llythyr, 1948-1982, oddi wrth Kate Roberts (ff. 1-8), dau lythyr, 1973, 1981, oddi wrth Lewis Valentine (ff. 9-10), a thri llythyr, 1965-1969, oddi wrth D. J. Williams, Abergwaun (ff. 11-13). = Eleven letters, 1948-1982, addressed to Jemeima Evans, her daughter Olwen Jones, and her son-in-law Edward Jones, all of whom kept a shop selling books and sweets near the Institute, Rhosllannerchrugog. They comprise six letters, 1948-1982, from Kate Roberts (ff. 1-8), two letters, 1973, 1981, from Lewis Valentine (ff. 9-10) and three letters, 1965-1969, from D. J. Williams (ff. 11-13).

The recipient was a former pupil of Kate Roberts at the Aberdare County Grammar School for Girls, and contributed reminiscences to Bobi Jones (ed.), Kate Roberts: Cyfrol Deyrnged (Dinbych, 1969), pp. 182-8. Some of Olwen Samuel's letters to Kate Roberts are in the Kate Roberts Archive at NLW.
