Scope and content
Title deeds of houses and lands in the parish of Llanilar, probably originating from the estate of Abermad, 1570-1651. Abermad came to James Lewes through his first marriage to Mary, daughter of Lewis Lloyd. The first document is a bond by Sir Henry Johns of Llangadog, Carmarthenshire, to Rees David ap Jenkyn of Llanfihangel-y Creuddyn, to lease the parsonage and rectory of Llanilar, with a covenant to repair the chancel of the church, 1570. The rest specifically concern the estate of Abermad, naming Rees Lloyd, 1589, and David Lloid ap Ievan, 1615, 1630, followed by the latter’s will, naming James Lewes [of Abernantbychan] as executor, 1631. Properties include Tythin Mawre, otherwise Tythin Lloen' Dio Goch, Tythin y Ddyoll, Tythyn y Weyn Wenn, Y Lann Veylddy, otherwise Pwll yr Hwyed, etc. and Tythen y Vagwyr; and a bond to Sir John Lewis of Abernantbychan and James Lewis of Cardigan, 1651
