Extent and medium

130 ff. (foliated 1-131, with f. 131 a modern leaf) : Parchment ; approx. 210 x 155 mm. (trimmed irregularly).

A modern NLW note on the binding on f. 131 reads: ‘Ni chofnodwyd mwy am rwymiad llawysgrif Hendregadredd pan ddaeth i Ll.G.C. nag a welir yn J. Morris-Jones a T.H. Parry-Williams, Llawysgrif Hendregadredd (1933), t. x. Ail-rwymwyd y gyfrol gan atgyweirio rhai dalennau yn 1956. Anfoddhaol oedd y defnyddiau a gymerwyd at y gwaith hwn ac yn 1979 datgymalwyd y rhwymiad a gwaith atgyweirio 1956. At yr ail-atgyweirio cymerwyd memrwn newydd, wedi’i staenio rhag edrych yn or-wyn, a ‘collagen’ (croen selsig), gan ddefnyddio pâst blawd ac ychydig o gelatin ynddo. Rhoddwyd toddiant spermaseti 1.5% ar y dail er mwyn eu meddalu ac ymlacio, a’u sychu o dan bwysau ysgafn. Ail-rwymwyd mewn byrddau derw a ddaeth yn rhodd i Ll.G.C. gan Iarll Powis yn 1942, wedi’u torri o dderwen fawr a gwympodd ym mharc y castell yn 1939’. Internal rear cover stamped ‘J. Bowen’. NLW binding codes of 8/23 and 13/35 written in pencil on f. 1.

Available on microfilm at the Library (NLW Film 746). This microfilm, dated 31 October 1985, appears to be a Diazo negative copy of an earlier Diazo master negative, dated 3 November 1978, which survives at the Library. Monochrome image print-outs of the manuscript, possibly copied from the 1978 microfilm, and provided for the Poets of the Welsh Princes Project, are available at the Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies. It appears that the manuscript was not microfilmed anew as part of the programme of microfilming manuscripts at the Library during the 1990s.
