Original parcel of letters marked ‘Miscellaneous Letters 1851-1855’. The letters are mostly to the Gogerddan agent, John Graham Williams of Aberystwyth, and occasionally to Edward Lewis Pryse, dated 1851-1854. Correspondents include James Lloyd of Lodge Park, J.M Davies of Penpompren, James Davies of Ffosrhydgaled, 1851, William Wilkins [Office of Woods and Forests], 1851, Thomas Hughes of Castelldu, 1852, Jeffreys of Glandyfi Castle, 1852, John James of Ynyseidol, 1852, Aberystwyth Foundry, 1853, Thomas Holmes of Llanidloes, 1853-1854, Matthew D. Williams of Cwmcynfelyn, 1854, and Capt. W.T. Jones of Gwynfryn. Items of interest include Thomas Penson of Gwersyllt Hall and Oswestry about the new Llyfnant Bridge, 1851-1852, Llewellyn Davies of Llanidloes on mapping Nantyrarian manor, 1851, Charles Wilding of Powis Castle about the rent for Trwyngwningen near Aberystwyth Castle, 1851-1853, Lewis Roberts of the Feathers Inn, Aberaeron, about his profligate father’s illicit sale of Ty Quarrel, 1852, J. Bithell of Westminster on the lack of Welsh investmentt in the Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth Railway, 1852, and a letter to Capt. Gwynne of Glanlery, enclosing the resolution of a vestry to extend the road at Borth, 1854. The file also contains a valuation at Rhydypennau, 1853, a copy of an agreement between Pryse Loveden and the commissioners of the Turnpike Trust to widen the road from Aberystwyth to Ponterwyd near Parson’s Mill; and a small number of estate accounts and receipts, 1851-1853.
