Papers relating to the administration of law and order in Cardiganshire through the offices of sheriff, bailiffs, gaoler, justices of the peace and the local militia., 1603-1896. They include appointments to those offices, 1603-1859, sheriff’s accounts, 1861-1862. and lists of JPs, [pre-1746], 1844. Of particular interest are two assignments to the new sheriffs, which name certain individuals in custody, 1603, 1628.
