Biographical history
Thomas James Jenkin (1885-1965), from Maenclochog, Pembrokeshire, was Director of the Welsh Plant Breeding Station and Professor of Agricultural Botany in Aberystwyth. He also chaired the National Institute of Agricultural Botany and served as President of the Welsh Black Cattle Society in the 1950s, as well as acting as Agricultural Advisor for Wales on behalf of Dunns Farm Seeds Ltd, an agricultural firm based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. In addition, he took great interest in his family history, as well as local history in Pembrokeshire. He married Kate Laura Jenkin.

Papers, 1883-2002, relating to Welsh Black cattle, gathered together for a book produced by the donor entitled The best of breeds. The collection includes an address by Dr T. J. Jenkin given to the Welsh Black Cattle Society, 1962.
