Reviews, interviews, articles and correspondence relating to Sharon Penman and her novels, especially Here be Dragons, including: press cuttings, typescript press copies, agency press cuttings and photocopies of reviews published in the USA and the UK, 1985-1986, of Here be Dragons, including a few manuscript notes by reviewers and publishers; press cuttings of interviews with Sharon Penman in Publishers Weekly (1985) and Fiction Writers Monthly (1986), referring in particular to Here be Dragons; typescript copies and press cuttings of articles written by Fred Allen for publication in several Kentucky newspapers about Sharon Penman's personal and family history, Here be Dragons, her first novel The Sunne in Splendour, and her connections with Kentucky, with manuscript annotations by Allen added for the attention of Sharon Penman; a copy of New Welsh Review, 1992, containing an article by J. H. Cook about Sharon Penman, her Welsh trilogy and medieval Wales; letters to Sharon Penman from her agents and publishers, 1985-1986, relating to her writing, her research, her collaboration with agents and publishers, the marketing and publication of Here be Dragons, royalties for Here be Dragons and the offer of a contract for two further novels including [Falls the] Shadow [and The Reckoning]; a typescript copy of a letter, 1985, by Sharon Penman to the University of Wales Press asking for a subscription to the Welsh History Review; a card, 2021, from [a family member] concerning help received in disposing of Sharon Penman's work and possessions after her death, and in particular the transfer of the Welsh trilogy to its new home [at NLW]; and also two copies of Ninnau, 1985, accumulated by Sharon Penman and her publishers in connection with material relating to her and intended for publication in the paper (but not present in these copies - they included a letter by her, a review of Here be Dragons and an advertisement for the book), with a manuscript note from the publishers.
