A collection of twenty-seven small notebooks or booklets, twenty-six containing sermons, in Welsh with one exception, written by various eighteenth century authors, one containing a theological catechism (incomplete) in English. Several of the booklets, some of them numbered, appear to be in the hand of the Reverend Watkin Jones, who was curate of Llanberis, Caernarvonshire, c. 1752-63. An interesting feature concerning this group is that the paper on which the semons have been written includes bills, printed items and letters, among them five letters, 1751-3, from [the Reverend] Evan Owen, 'vaner near Dolgelle [sic]', [rector of Llanberis], and one, 1759, from [the Reverend] Maurice Williams, Dolwyddelan. The remaining booklets are in various hands: one, containing two sermons preached at Clynin [sic] (probably Llangelynnin) and Llanegrin, etc., 1780-5, has the words 'by H. Jones Maesgalasau' written on the first page, another notebook bears the legend 'Robt. Roberts Ejus Manus', and the only English sermon in the collection was preached at Minsterly and Shelve [Salop], 1726 and 1730.

An imperfect volume of sermons, written in two hands. On the inside upper cover is the inscription 'E Libris How : Powell II : B'. This owner may be identified with Howell Powell (died 1736), rector of Llangattock-nigh-Usk, and the second half of the volume may be in his hand. The inside upper cover contains an incomplete list of contents.

Two volumes of manuscript sermons in English, some preached between 1769 and 1805 at Worcester and the vicinity, Leeds, Hutton, Counde, etc., and a few others of later date, including a charge to churchwardens, 1822, delivered again at Salop and Newport, 1825, and another charge (to clergy) delivered at Salop and Newport, 1823. One of the earlier sermons was preached on one occasion at Hartlebury Chapel, May 26 1771, 'on occasion of taking Priests Orders', and another was preached at Hutton, June 22 1788, 'on Occasion of reading in as Rector', and again at Counde, Feb. 8 1789, on the same occasion [i.e. reading in as rector]. The evidence suggests that these earlier sermons are the work of the Reverend Thomas Goodinge, D.C.L. (1746-1816) [see Shropshire Parish Registers, Diocese of Lichfield, Vol. II, Cound, p. iv, and J. A. Venn, Alumni Cantabrigienses, Part II, 1752-1900, Vol. III p. 84]. The later addresses or sermons are probably the work of Archdeacon Hugh Owen (see Cwrtmawr MS 425B). The volumes are numbered 1-2 on the spine.
