Ganed ym Mhwllheli ac addysgwyd ef yn y dref. Ymunodd gyda'i frawd yn gyfreithiwr a phan aeth hwnnw i Lundain yn 1920 olynodd ef fel clerc trefol Pwllheli. Daliodd y swydd hyd 1949. Yn 1928 etholwyd ef yn aelod o'r Cyngor Sir ac yn henadur yn 1938. Bu'n gadeirydd blaenllaw y Pwyllgor Cyllid am tuag ugain mlynedd ac y gadeirydd y cyngor sir yn 1944-5. Ef oedd cofrestrydd Llys Sirol Pwllheli, Porthmadog a Blaenau Ffestiniog, 1939-56. Derbyniodd Ryddfraint Pwllheli yn 1953. Yn ei flynyddoedd olaf yr oedd yn Ddirprwy Raglaw Sir Gaernarfon.
