System of arrangement
The clients’ papers have been divided into major clients, minor clients and generic papers. Major clients (CM), based on the amount of surviving papers, are generally those that had a continuing relationship with Roberts & Evans; where the solicitors acted, for example, as agents of a landed estate or trustees of a settlement. Major clients include the Chichester, Glanrheidol, Mabws, Nanteos and Penglais estates. The papers of major clients will amount to several files. Minor clients (CB) generally had a one-off relationship with Roberts & Evans, producing a single file of papers. Examples of minor clients include those having a will written or proved, or buying or selling a property. Generic papers (CG) are original bundles and loose clients' papers gathered by record type (deeds, posters, plans etc.) or by subject (debt collection, inclosure papers etc.), rather than by client.
