Scope and content
Material relating to the compilation and publication of Tony Curtis's novel Darkness in the City of Light (working title Occupied Territory), published by Seren Books in 2021, including: rough manuscript notes in Tony Curtis's hand; pre-publication reviews of the work; email correspondence between Tony Curtis and Mick Felton, Publisher at Seren Books; photocopied background information sources relating to the novel's main character, physician and serial killer Dr Marcel Petiot, to other leading figures in the narrative and to the occupation of France during the Second World War, including photocopies of official documents; excerpts from the novel; and poetry by Tony Curtis.
Written on a brown paper bag in Tony Curtis's hand (in reference to the material): 'Darkness in the City of Light novel Tony Curtis 1980s - 2021', the '1980s' date presumably referring to the writing of Curtis's play 'Occupied Territory' (see under heading Plays by Tony Curtis and Radio broadcasts of literary works by Tony Curtis).
Including annotations/amendments in Tony Curtis's and his wife Margaret Curtis's hands.

Note
Marcel Petiot was a medical doctor and serial killer. He was convicted of multiple murders after the discovery of the remains of 23 people in the basement of his home in Paris during World War II. He is suspected of the murder of about 60 to 200 victims during his lifetime, although the true number remains unknown. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcel_Petiot)
