Biographical history

The Ruck family are descended from an old Kentish family. Laurence Ruck (b. 1820) of Pantlludw, Merioneth, and Newington Manor House, Kent, married Mary Anne, daughter of Richard Matthews of Esgair Lleferin in 1841. Richard Matthews' s father, another Richard, married Ann Morris, heiress of Esgair Lleferin. The Matthews family inherited the Pantperthog estate sometime in the early 19th century.
